The Solent Group For Psychotherapists and Counsellors has members who work from a number of different theoretical perspectives. Membership is open to all “qualified psychotherapists, counsellors, and for those working as practitioners in the psycho therapeutic field”. The only restriction placed upon membership is that applicants should not be in the ongoing therapy with any other existing member of the group. Membership costs just £20 each year. We hold a regular programme of events including last year a free lecture on the 12th April by Dorothy Rowe on the subject of her latest book, “My Dearest Enemy, My Dangerous Friend.” about the attractions and perils of sibling relationships. Most of the meetings are held at the Friends Meeting House in Chichester. Meetings usually begin with a shared lunch which is an opportunity just to meet and chat informally with other members of the group. Members are welcome to come to the lunch or to skip this bit and just come for the talk which usually starts at about 2.00. The lectures usually lasts about an hour and a half, with a half-hour break followed by an hour's discussion. Enquiries about membership and applications should be made by telephone or e-mail to the membership secretary, Angela Cottam. Her telephone number is 01428 648323 .
