Kate reflects on some of the preoccupations and questions that have emerged for her over the last 12 years or so of her psychoanalytic practice.

Kate Gilbert did her psychoanalytic training at the Philadelphia Association, which was established by R.D Laing and others in the 60s. Laing and his colleagues were, at that time, in search of a more humane treatment for those taken to be suffering from schizophrenia as well as other forms of emotional anguish.

Kate teaches/ has taught at a number of psychoanalytic training organisations as well as the Philadelphia Association, including AGIP, Arbours and Surrey University. Her first profession was in the teaching of modern languages. She is currently a member of the Training Committee at the P.A.
